In the heart of Nashville beats an urban retreat, nestled in between Woodmont and Belmont Blvd. is the “The Jewel of India”, a Day Spa and Boutique also known as the Urban Oasis. This is definitely a “Kali Hot Spot” and after a day of “hustle and flow” downtown or on Music Row, it is the only place to “get your relaxation on”. On Thursday night, it was bitterly cold, with blistering winds . As Titan’s fans crowded the streets, the congestion of cars made me want to “click my heels three times” and escape to Tahiti. As if it were only possible, I felt as if it were all a dream, I ended up at the Urban Oasis for the next best thing, a Tahitian Paradise Hydrating Treatment. Followed by a hot stone massage with owner and LMT Sith Phrachak. The massage definitely “took me to places that I had never been before”. It is the perfect retreat on any winter day here in Music City.

When we entered the spa it was festively decorated with Christmas sparkle and cheer. It happened to be their Thursday night “Holiday Happy Hour”, with wine and h’orderves.
On the first table were beautiful and decadent cup cakes, as I picked one up to take a bite, I realized that it wasn’t “real”. I was quickly informed that it was a “bath bomb”, a delectable treat, custom designed to your aroma, and blended to perfection by owner Mary Phrachak. Mary specializes in the chemistry of the formulation, and is able to create “anything that you can imagine”. This is a “one stop Kali Christmas shopping hot spot”. With Voluspa candles, and aroma, to eclectic bohemian jewelry like Ellie Rose, there is a special gift for all “the ladies in your life”.

Urban Oasis also supports local vendors and artists. They carry a full line of “Villainess Soaps” made locally in Waverly, TN. They promote products organic in nature, and certainly are “Redefining Bad”. The walls are decorated with the contemporary art of Janet Decker Yanez, a local artist. Combined with serenity and Eastern flair, you experience rejuvenation the moment that you step inside away from the noise of life.

They also offer healing manicures, and pedicures. Heidi Powell, has created a 1 1/2 hour pedicure! Complete with a massage, all of its own, this is the ultimate luxury for only $75.00. This will be the first thing that I do next week when my flight arrives back in Nashville from LAX. Who wouldn’t need a massage after a weekend in LA? I am already looking forward to the jet set home. Heidi uses OPI and Creative Nail for a modern edge on a classic service.
